The tern 'nanobreak' may not be within everyone's vocabulary currently, but there is growing evidence to suggest that it won't be too long before the term becomes commonplace.

The concept of 'nanobreak' is simple: it is simply a short 'mini-break', often involving a solitary overnight stay at your destination which is typically within 2-3 hours travelling distance. Indeed, nanobreaks have become popular with those who enjoy travelling, as well as offering the chance to 'get away from it all' for those who may not be able to due to finances or an inability to take prolonged time away from work.

Essentially, the concept of 'nanobreaks' mean that anyone can get away from the daily grind for a day or two to visit and explore somewhere different and enjoy a change of scenery - if only for a short time. However, one regular overnight stay elsewhere can help prolong the holiday spirit and keep people looking to travel whenever they get the chance.

For example, for someone living and working in Newcastle, a trip up the A1 to Edinburgh (a drive of approx. 2 hours) will see them arrive in a completely different environment, culture and surroundings from which to explore and simply relax and unwind for a day before heading home again refreshed. Whether it's exploring quaint cobbled streets, wandering through medieval castles or simply enjoying tea and scones in a café, there can be no better tonic for relieving stress than a break away from the grind and indulging in a little leisure time.

For this reason, it is perhaps golf breaks which best fill the niche created by the nanobreak phenomenon. UK golf breaks provide a perfect blend of leisure activities and free time into one package which can be enjoyed time and again, day after day at any time of year. With literally thousands of golf courses spread the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland, the opportunity for a golf break is never far away and with hotel accommodation and green fees included in the cost, they won't break the bank either.

With such a break, whether it be an Edinburgh golf break or elsewhere in the country, you can play your round of golf in the morning before tucking into a lunch and getting freshened up for an afternoon exploring the sights of your chosen destination, or simply unwinding in the hotel bar or other leisure facilities such as saunas, Jacuzzis, gymnasiums and more besides. At night you can dine to your heart's content wherever the notion takes you, before enjoying a second round of golf - sometimes at a different golf course - the next day.

And if you're a golf widow (or widower) you can get as much enjoyment from a golf break as the golfer themselves do by spending the time when your other half is on the course getting pampered with a spa treatment or blitzing the local high street in a shopping spree.

Nanobreaks - and UK golf breaks in particular - provide a win-win situation for all concerned; so just pick up those golf clubs and drive!
